What are the regulations for health supplements in Australia?
Health supplements are generally considered to be low-risk complementary medicines by the TGA. Supplement products that make general health claims must obtain the AUST L label to be sold in Australia.
Under the AUST L requirement, health supplements must meet quality standards and provide evidence that substantiates any health claims made. Products that do not meet these requirements may be taken off the market.

How long will health supplement manufacturing take?
Custom health supplement formulas may take up to 6 months to finalise and manufacture — the process includes the stages of ingredient sourcing, research and development, and testing.
Private-label supplement manufacturing can take around 6 months or longer to complete production. Private-label is suitable for businesses that want a turnkey solution for a line of health supplements proven in terms of efficacy and quality.
Manufacturing timelines can also vary depending on the volume of the order - bulk orders will require more time for fulfilment.
